Sports fans!!

With baseball season winding down and football season getting started, the team spirit is high at our house.

Go Phillies!!

Go Eagles!!
(The girls at our house are fans too, we just don't have enough shirts to go around . . .yet!!!)

Bath Time

Brenna's bath

Carter's bath

Carter and Brenna got their first baths at home and I couldn't miss the opportunity for pictures of the event. They didn't seem to mind their baths too much, but they were hungry!!

Thank You Meme, we'll miss you so!!!

Meme (my mom - pronounced "meh-may") has been staying with us since the day after the babies were born. She has helped us so much with EVERYTHING during this difficult transition time and we are so grateful. Drew has enjoyed having her here to play with and two of his favorite things to play with Meme are Uno and Jacks!!

Pepe is coming to pick up Meme this week and we will miss her. Thank you again for all you have done for us Meme!!!

It's a bird, it's a plane . . .

It's Superman!!!

This is not Drew's Halloween costume, (we'll keep you in suspense on that one!!) but he just loves posing in these pajamas.

Pediatrician Appointment

Carter (L) and Brenna (R) after their exhausting doctor's appointment!

Carter and Brenna have now had 2 appointments with the "fishy" doctor. (Drew named the doctor's office this because they have all of the rooms painted in an aquarium theme.)

Both doctors think they look great and are eating and gaining weight appropriately. Carter was 6 lbs 2 oz, and Brenna was 6 lbs at their appt. on the 18th!!!

Emily is now 6 pounds!!

Go Emily!!!

She is continuing to make progress with her feeding (taking six mouth feeds starting today and getting better and better!) and gaining weight.
[The sign says five pounds because I'm a little behind on my blogging!!!]

Carter is home!

Brenna and Carter at home together

Carter comes home

Carter came home on Sunday after 22 days in the NICU! He is doing very well at home. It has been very busy with both babies at home, but we're enjoying it!!

Emily is continuing to make progress with her eating. For two days, she has been able to take 4 feeds by mouth and last night I got to feed her myself. We can't wait to get her home too!!

Update on Carter and Emily

Carter has been doing extremely well with his feeds and is ad-lib now without a feeding tube. He has had some trouble with desaturations (decreased oxygen levels) which has kept him from coming home the last two days. Things are looking good for him to be released tomorrow, just in time for the Eagles game!!

Emily was allowed to start 1 mouth feeding yesterday and took about half very well. Today, when Gee-off was visiting, she took the whole feed!! Go Emily!

At home with Brenna

Brenna, asleep in the Pack and Play

The proud big brother!

She looks peaceful, but she really didn't like this musical glider seat very much!

Brenna has been doing very well at home. She is eating well and sleeping well (most of the time).
Drew was very excited to meet her and happy to pose for a picture!

Coming home

Mommy and Daddy with Brenna - All ready to go home!!

Brenna kisses Emily goodbye!

Mommy and Brenna get a ride to the car.

Bye-bye NICU!

The babies all have to meet certain criteria before they can be released from the NICU. These include; maintaining their oxygen levels and heart rates in the safe range, taking 8 complete feeds per day by mouth, and passing the car seat test.

Once Brenna and Carter made it to 8 feeds, they both passed their car seat tests. Brenna went to ad-lib feedings first and Carter stayed at 8 feeds for a few days until he learned to eat a bit faster. Emily had been at 4 feeds per day for a few days and had some trouble remembering to suck, swallow, and breathe at the same time. So the doctor had Emily take all of her feeds through the feeding tube for a few days so she could have a rest.

On Wednesday night, after 19 days in the NICU, Brenna got the green light to be discharged and come home! Carter and Emily will miss her, but we made sure she kissed them goodbye before we left!!
