Co-bedding

It is so awesome to see all three babies lying together. They can't really touch each other yet because they are so swaddled up, but it's too cute for words anyway!

From left to right, Carter, Brenna, Emily. They keep them in birth order and all of their care, diapers, feedings, etc., is done in order!

Making wonderful progress!

Carter, Brenna, and Emily are doing so well in the NICU. Carter has been breathing room air since birth. Brenna needed to be on c-pap and Emily needed the ventilator for about one day and then moved up to the c-pap. They all had IVs for quite a few days which they moved from their arms to their legs, and Emily had to have hers in her head for a day or two so she wouldn't pull it out again!

After 2 days in the NICU, they were moved to the intermediate room, and after 10 days they were moved up again. They were holding their body temperatures well, so they got to ditch the isolettes and share an open crib together. They look adorable in there!! They have all started nursing and bottle feeding and are doing well with it. They are also wearing clothes now!

Introducing . . . Carter, Brenna, and Emily!!!

The triplets arrived Saturday night, August 18th, at 33 weeks and 4 days!

Carter Jackson arrived at 8:44pm, weighing 4lb 1oz and 16 inches long.

Brenna Lynn arrived at 8:45pm, weighing 4lb 4oz and 18 inches long.

Emily Christine arrived at 8:46, weighing 3lb 13oz and 17 inches long.

They were delivered by c-section at Virtua Hospital and taken to the NICU where I got to see them about an hour later.

We are so happy they are here!!!

Too many contractions!

My contractions were over the limit this morning and my monitor was "on the fritz" making it even more frustrating. I had to monitor 3 separate times to get in the 2 full hours of data! The nurse had to call the doctor, but he said as long as I feel OK and I'm not feeling the contractions, which I wasn't, then I should just stay home, lie down and keep drinking my water. We thought we might have to go in to Labor and Delivery to get checked and maybe get some contraction stopping medicine, but it seems we'll only need to if I'm in real labor with more significant symptoms.

Hmmm, are the babies getting ready??? We'll keep you updated!!!

Baby Update!

We had our latest growth ultrasound on Thursday, August 9th. The babies are looking and doing great!!

Baby A (boy) is 3lbs. 13oz.!
Baby B (girl) is 4lbs. 4oz.!
Baby C (girl) is 4lbs. 6oz.!

These are all approximate and not exact weights, but they should be pretty close. And the doctor says, by 35 weeks, they should all be over 5 pounds each. If we make it that far, they'll need little to no NICU time and should be able to come home with us!!

Their heartbeats were all strong, and their measurements were all in the normal range for 32 weeks. The specialist told us to go ahead and schedule our c section for sometime during the 35th week, which will be the week of August 27th!! My cervix is still long and closed too. All good signs for keeping these little ones cooking a while longer!

Diaper Derby Update: We now have over 4,000 diapers!!! Thank you everyone!

32 weeks and 3,444 diapers!!

We are 32 weeks pregnant today!! I think the babies must be very comfy because they're showing no signs of coming out yet! Things could change quickly though. But Geeoff insists we're going to make it until August 24th (34 weeks 3 days). We'll see.

As for the 3,444 diapers, that is the current tally of diapers collected for us at Tall Pines Day Camp. Geeoff has been a counselor there for 12 years now and Drew is now a camper! They have generously decided to host a diaper derby for us, and the campers, parents, and staff have responded amazingly!! We can't thank them enough! By the way, that's 3,444 diapers in addition to the diapers that we have already accumulated (over 2000!). Thank you so much everyone!!

August 6, 2007

Well, I have finally decided to jump on the blogging bandwagon thanks to my fellow IVFers and friends from my BabyCenter bulletin board. Thanks girls, for leading the way!

Hopefully soon we'll be announcing the arrival of the triplets and posting pictures for everyone to see. As of today, I am 31 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Tomorrow we'll hit the very important 32 week milestone. On Thursday, we have our big growth ultrasound where we'll get to see the babies for the first time in a month (yippee!), check their fluid levels, placentas, weights, and do a cervical check as well.

Until then, no news is good news! I have been having some trouble sleeping; lots of trips to the bathroom, rolling over is difficult, but staying on one side hurts my hips. I've developed carpel tunnel in my right wrist and arm also. But other than being large, heavy, and just generally uncomfortable, I'm feeling pretty good. My blood pressure is excellent, no swelling, cramping, or any other symptoms of impending labor, so these babies just might hang on for a few more weeks!!
